É preciso o investimento da administração pública no sentido de desenvolver projetos para torná-la uma forma de transporte mais popular. Muita gente não usa bicicleta por causa da velocidade dos automóveis, conflitos com ônibus e pedestres e ausência de um espaço seguro para estacionar. É o que constatam ciclistas de carteirinha, como os paulistanos Renata Falzoni e Arturo Alcorta, que há tempos trocaram seus carros pelas bicicletas para circular pela cidade.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Renata confessa que se arrisca ao disputar espaço com os carros quando não dispõe de uma infra-estrutura segura. “Muita gente tem ‘bikefobia’ e não respeita o ciclista”, afirma. “É preciso mudar essa mentalidade.” Arturo, por sua vez, lembra que os defensores das bicicletas também precisam aprender a dirigir e usar equipamentos de segurança, seguindo as normas de conduta previstas no Código Nacional de Trânsito. “Bicicleta não é carro nem moto, mas também se trata de um meio de transporte que deve ter regras de utilização”, explica.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dentro do conceito de mobilidade urbana sustentável, cada meio de transporte tem o seu lugar e as suas regras. A inserção da bicicleta, portanto, é possível desde que considerada como um dos elementos integrantes de um novo desenho urbano – com espaços adequados, vias de tráfego compartilhadas e, principalmente, o fim da cultura que privilegia o automóvel. Quem trabalha com o tema vê nessas ações em conjunto uma oportunidade de melhorar a qualidade de vida e a saúde dos moradores das grandes cidades.&lt;br /&gt;Se isso não for feito, o futuro não é nada promissor, como constata Eric Amaral Ferreira, diretor da União dos Ciclistas do Brasil. “O trânsito das cidades brasileiras vai entrar em colapso em dez anos se não houver políticas públicas que priorizem os espaços para quem anda a pé, de bicicleta ou depende de ônibus e metrô”, prevê. “É preciso reservar áreas para esses meios de transporte, construir vias de acesso exclusivo, criar zonas de velocidade reduzida para carros.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cidades como Munique têm uma área especial onde os ciclistas se deslocam e os carros estão proibidos de estacionar ou até de encostar as rodas, enquanto se deslocam – e vice-versa. Não é permitido andar de bicicleta no espaço reservado aos automóveis. “Quando a cidade é preparada para quem pedala a cultura vai mudando e quem anda de carro aprende a respeitar não só os ciclistas mas também os pedestres. E isso vira estímulo para deixar o carro na garagem”, lembra Gisele Xavier, coordenadora do Grupo Ciclo Brasil, que reúne especialistas na Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (Udesc) para discutir esse meio de transporte. No Brasil inteiro, cidades com menos de 50 mil habitantes já aderem à bicicleta como seu principal meio de deslocamento. E que, onde elas não existissem, você não poderia transitar?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para nós, cidadãos que utilizam a bicicleta como meio de transporte, é esse o sentimento ao ouvir que "só será seguro pedalar em São Paulo quando houver ciclovias", ou que "a bicicleta atrapalha o trânsito". Precisamos pedalar agora. E já pedalamos! Nós e mais 300 mil pessoas, diariamente. Será que deveríamos esperar até 2020, ano em que Eduardo Jorge (secretário do Verde e do Meio Ambiente de São Paulo) estima que teremos 1.000 quilômetros de ciclovias? Se a cidade tem mais de 17 mil quilômetros de vias, pelo menos 94% delas continuarão sem ciclovia. Como fazer quando precisarmos passar por alguma dessas vias? Carregar a bicicleta nas costas até a próxima ciclovia? Empurrá-la pela calçada?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ciclovia é só uma das possibilidades de infra-estrutura existentes para o uso da bicicleta. Nosso sistema viário, assim como a cidade, foi pensado para os carros particulares e, quando não ignora, coloca em segundo plano os ônibus, pedestres e ciclistas. Não precisamos de ciclovias para pedalar, assim como os carros e os caminhões não precisam ser separados. O ciclista tem o direito legal de pedalar por praticamente todas as vias e tem preferência, garantida pelo Código de Trânsito Brasileiro, sobre todos os veículos motorizados. A evolução do ciclismo como transporte é marca de cidadania na Europa e de funcionalidade na China. Já temos, mesmo na América do Sul, grandes exemplos de soluções criativas: Bogotá e Curitiba.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Não clamamos [só] por ciclovias, clamamos por respeito. As leis de trânsito colocam em primeiro plano o respeito à vida. As ruas são públicas e devem ser compartilhadas entre todos os veículos, como manda a lei e reza o bom senso. Porém, muitas pessoas não se arriscam a pedalar por medo da atitude violenta de alguns motoristas. Estes motoristas felizmente são minoria, mas uma minoria que assusta e agride.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A recente iniciativa do Metrô de São Paulo de emprestar bicicletas e oferecer bicicletários é importante. Atende a uma carência que é relegada pelo poder público: a necessidade de espaço seguro para estacionar as bikes. Em vez de ciclovias, a instalação de bicicletários deveria vir acompanhada de uma campanha de &lt;i&gt;educação no trânsito&lt;/i&gt; e um trabalho de &lt;i&gt;sinalização de vias&lt;/i&gt;, para informar aos motoristas que ciclistas podem e devem circular nas ruas da nossa cidade. Nos cursos de habilitação não há sequer um parágrafo sobre proteger o ciclista, sobre o veículo maior sempre zelar pelo menor. Eventualmente, cita-se a legislação a ser decorada, sem explicá-la adequadamente. E a sinalização, quando existe, apenas &lt;i&gt;proíbe&lt;/i&gt; a bicicleta, nunca comunica os motoristas sobre o compartilhamento da via, regulamenta seu uso ou indica caminhos alternativos para o ciclista. A ausência de sinalização deseduca os motoristas, porque não legitima a presença da bicicleta nas vias públicas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A insistência em afirmar que as ruas serão seguras para as bicicletas somente quando houver milhares de quilômetros de ciclovias parece a desculpa usada por muitos motoristas para não deixar o carro em casa, que dizem "só mudarei meus hábitos quando tiver metrô na porta de casa", enquanto continuam a congestionar e poluir o espaço público, esperando que outros resolvam seus problemas em vez de tomar a iniciativa para construir uma solução.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Não podemos e não vamos esperar. Precisamos usar nossas bicicletas já, dentro da lei e com segurança. Vamos desde já contribuir para melhorar a qualidade de vida da nossa cidade. Vamos liberar espaços no trânsito e não poluir o ar. Vamos fazer bem para a saúde (de todos) e compartilhar, com os que ainda não experimentaram, o prazer de pedalar. Com força e determinação, iremos construir nossos espaços nas cidades e ser a vanguarda de um futuro sustentável para as próximas gerações.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Preferimos crer que podemos fazer nossa cidade mais humana do que acreditar que a solução para os nossos problemas é alimentar a segregação com ciclovias. Existem alternativas mais rápidas e soluções que serão benéficas a todos, se pudermos nos unir para construirmos juntos uma cidade mais humana.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A rua é de todos. JANEIRO&lt;/span&gt; -&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt; Na última quarta-feira, a ciclista Márcia Regina de Andrade Prado, 40, foi atropelada por um ônibus na avenida Paulista, em São Paulo. Caiu da bicicleta e a roda traseira do ônibus passou sobre sua cabeça. Morreu na hora. Dois dias depois, outro ciclista, o carioca Luis Carlos de Lima, 15, também foi atirado longe por um ônibus, em Botafogo, zona sul do Rio, e morreu no próprio local.Eles eram ciclistas experientes e cautelosos. Eram também pessoas ágeis, elásticas, habituadas ao uso do corpo: Márcia era massagista profissional e fazia parte do grupo Bicicletada, que luta pela adoção da bicicleta como meio de transporte; Luis Carlos, atleta do Fluminense e considerado uma promessa nos saltos ornamentais. Os dois caíram porque foram atingidos pelas jamantas.O Brasil só fabrica menos bicicletas que a China e a Índia, e tem 60 milhões desses veículos nas ruas. Ou seja, um em cada três brasileiros é um heroico ciclista. Apesar disso, a quilometragem de ciclovias do país é ridícula se comparada aos números lá de fora. Berlim, por exemplo, tem 753 km de ciclovias; Paris, 437 km; Bogotá, 340 km.O Rio, a cidade brasileira mais bem servida, tem 200 km -pode-se ir de bicicleta, pela orla, do Recreio dos Bandeirantes ao aeroporto Santos Dumont. É delicioso, mas não é suficiente. São Paulo tem apenas 22,5 km, dos quais 19 km ficam dentro de parques e só servem para o lazer.Márcia e Luis Carlos foram as primeiras baixas de 2009 na guerra dos ônibus e carros contra as bicicletas. A &lt;i style=""&gt;Draisienne&lt;/i&gt;, assim batizada em homenagem ao inventor, correspondia a um veículo de duas rodas de madeira, sendo o deslocamento resultante do impulso dos pés contra o solo. O aparato possuía ainda um guidão muito semelhante ao timão das embarcações, freio e um pequeno acolch&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt;oado correspo&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt;ndente ao atual selim. Tal invento apresentou considerável popularidade entre a pequena burguesia francesa desse período. Uma versão mais refinada da máquina de von Drais foi apresentada dois anos mais tarde em Londres. O velocípede possuía uma estrutura de ferro e pesava cerca de 35 quilos. O meio de transporte chegou a ser produzido em escala industrial pela &lt;i style=""&gt;Micheaux et cie&lt;/i&gt;, uma sociedade firmada entre Pierre e Ernest Micheaux e os irmãos Ollivier e valia 500 francos-ouro. Entretanto, apenas pessoas bem condicionadas fisicamente poderiam usufruir do transporte já que, para fazer a grande roda dianteira girar, era necessária grande força do ciclistas nos pedais. Alguns a&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt;nos mais tarde, ainda na década de 1880, apareceu a solução ao problema da dificuldade na propulsão dos pedais. A idéia de fixar os pedais em um pequeno círculo ligado à roda traseira por uma corrente dentada foi colocada em prática pelo britânico James K. Starley na cidade de Conventry. A tração dianteira da máquina passou a ser traseira. Além disso, pode-se observar melhora considerável na ergonomia do móvel quando Starley propôs o emparelhamento no tamanho da rodas. Na década seguinte, foram introduzidos pneus com câmaras de ar no lugar das rodas d&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt;e metal. É muito provável que diferentes pessoas, nas mais diversas partes do mundo, possam ter apresentado a mesma idéia: adaptar um cavalo a partir de duas rodas. Há relatos de esboços desenhados por Da Vinci que lembram muito uma bicicleta. O importante é salienta o que&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt; o advento e a popularização da bicicleta significou no cotidiano da repartida sociedade do final do século XIX. Doze bolsistas foram selecionados através de testes e entrevistas, formando uma equipe interdisciplinar coordenada pela professora Alina Gonçalves Santiago (Arquitetura e Urbanismo).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;“Vivemos em um planeta à beira de um colapso econômico-ambiental, e muito disso está relacionado com hábitos do nosso dia-a-dia, dentre os quais se destaca o uso irracional do automóvel. A bicicleta é uma alternativa de transporte saudável e econômica, e o seu uso deve ser encorajado. Portanto nada mais lógico do que disponibilizar condições para que toda a comunidade da UFSC e seu entorno sinta-se disposta a trabalhar, estudar, se divertir diariamente, utilizando meios de transporte ecológicos como a bicicleta, patins, skate”, afirmou Ícaro Seleme, aluno de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da UFSC.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Além dos 12 bolsistas e da professora Alina Santiago, o projeto é apoiado pelo ETUSC (Escritório Técnico-Administrativo da UFSC) e pelo apoio da Administração Central, tendo como entusiasta o Reitor Álvaro Prata.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Os alunos disponibilizaram uma enquete online, para que os estudantes da universidade e a população participem indicando as principais necessidades e sugestões, dando continuidade ao projeto.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O Projeto Ciclovia Ecoeficiente ainda se encontra na fase inicial. Para que a ciclovia seja implantada, a equipe ainda precisa definir os principais trajetos da ciclovia e os materiais que serão utilizados, analisar os resultados da enquete, consultar o Instituto de Planejamento Urbano de Florianópolis (IPUF) sobre o novo Plano Diretor de Florianópolis, e o ETUSC, a respeito de projetos previstos para o campus da Trindade. Por último, serão propostos modelos de bicicletários em pontos estratégicos do campus, além do orçamento.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“A implantação da ciclovia irá incentivar o uso da bicicleta como meio de transporte.
